“III – Unfolding” steps out of the deep green towards the light. Warm light falls across the opened white rose, while leaves and buds remain between visibility and darkness. This creates a silent, almost ethereal presence. As the final work of “Rose Devotion,” “Unfolding” completes the movement from warmth through introspection to the opening into the light. At the same time, the work is personally connected to the memory of the artist’s late cat and her encounter with Hegel’s “light-being” at the time. “Unfolding” concludes the triptych as an image of light, memory, and transience.
